Carrie’s story

Hello lovely, I’m Carrie.

01

It started in a university dorm room

I was in my second year studying law when I started my first business. I’d spent my student loan and overdraft on clothes (oops!), and I needed to make some money. I had no business experience at all, but I had an idea: a mobile phone unlocking website.

I bought a domain, built a very basic website myself and set up a Google Ads account with £30 a day. By the end of that year, the business was making really good money. By the time I graduated, it was getting over 100,000 visits a month.

02

Success, with something missing

At 23, I had a business that practically ran itself. On paper, I’d made it. In reality, I felt lonely and completely lost. I volunteered, I mentored, I even travelled to Australia for three months hoping for a lightbulb moment. It never came.

Then I read a quote from Tony Robbins that stopped me in my tracks: “Your destiny is determined by the choices you make.” I decided that day to change my mindset and go after something that truly meant something to me.

03

Finding my people

I wanted to connect with women who were building businesses too, so I built a website and started sharing their stories. That little project became the Female Entrepreneur Association.

Women from all over the world started finding us. In 2013 I opened the Members’ Club, and it’s grown into the community I wish I’d had right at the start: a place to learn, get support, celebrate each other’s wins and feel part of something bigger.

04

Life today, as a mum of two

These days I’m a mum to two gorgeous children, and they’ve changed everything about how I run my business. I’ve built FEA around the life I want with them: being there for the school run, the bedtime stories and the everyday magic, while still building something I’m so proud of.

I love raising them to be creative, resilient and kind, and I hope that seeing their mum chase her dreams shows them they can do the same. That’s what I want for you too: a business that fits around the people and the life you love.
