Children have this amazing ability to use their imagination to dream big and to think that anything is possible. They can turn the carpet into an ocean and jump from sofa to sofa, so afraid to fall because they believe with conviction that it’s really the ocean and that sharks are going to eat them. They can become the heroes that save the world. They can become whatever they want to be because there are no limits.
But as we grow up, society begins to tell us what we can and can’t do. It reinforces the idea that there are limits to what is possible for us. It tries to create the pathway for us to walk down. Go to college, get a job, work your whole life, retire. You end up waking up one day and realizing that life is passing you buy and you’re not living the life you wanted to live.
